Shanwei China Coal Power Plant
China has the highest installed capacity of coal power plants over any other country. Roughly 70% of the energy consumed in China is obtained from coal, thus making it one of the most coal-reliant countries in the world. Shanwei Coal Power Plant, in the Province of Guangdong, has a total installed capacity of 3,200 MW. Due to the conditions within a coal power plant, performance and reliable operation of a fire protection system is crucial. And at the heart of that system are the control valves. OCV Fluid Solutions, in cooperation with its partners, were able to provide the fire protection control valves essential to this Chinese coal power plant. We manufactured and supplied more than 75 Series 100, Model 68 Deluge Valves varying in size from 4” up to 8”. These valves control a water spray system to protect power generation equipment (transformers, oil tanks, etc.) and also control a water curtain fire prevention system for protection of joints between the transfer station, coal bunker room and the trestle area.
